"Zu den berühmtesten Besuchern des Laacher Sees gehörte Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, der Maria Laach und den Laacher See am 28. Juli 1815 zusammen mit dem Reichsfreiherrn Heinrich Friedrich Karl vom und zum Stein besuchte. Ein Relief aus Weiberner Tuffstein an der Klosterschänke erinnert an diese Begebenheit. Die Goethe-Erinnerungstafel wurde von dem Laacher Bruder Tutilo Haas (+ 1956) im Jahre 1931 im Hinblick auf das 100-jährige Gedenken des Todesjahres von Goethe (1932) geschaffen. "

"One of the most famous visitors to the Laacher See was Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who visited Maria Laach and the Laacher See on July 28, 1815, together with Heinrich Friedrich Karl, the imperial monarch, and a stone of a remnant of the Webern tuff at the Klosterschänke The Goethe memorial plaque was created by the Laacher brother Tutilo Haas (+ 1956) in 1931 with regard to the 100-year anniversary of the death of Goethe (1932).
