The bronze plaque reads:

"Herbert Memorial"
In Memory of
Lancelot and Martha Herbert
Opened Business in Orbost
March 1886
First Bulk Store on this Site.

Their history is rather sketchy (at least the online section), but from the genealogy site, "MyHeritage", the following was gleaned. (visit link) Lancelot Herbert (16 April, 1857, Otley, Yorkshire - 1911) married Martha (nee Rawlings) (~1857, Bradford - ) in 1884; opening the store in Orbost in 1886.

Access: right beside an edged bitumen path from the intersection of …, to the local Tourist Information Centre (in the slab hut).

Location: On a rectangular prism stone block for a fountain
