This cemetery was known as Doaksville in years past. In later years, it is known as Fort Towson Cemetery. Extensive work was done by the WPA in 1937-1938 constructing a 3/4 mile long wall around the cemetery, and building the beautiful rock chapel which stands behind this monument.
This is a pink granite slab approximately 4-1/2 feet tall. At the top is a colored U.S. flag, and within the inscription is a flying eagle. The inscription reads:
