Fort Towson Cemetery was constructed by the WPA on the site of a previous cemetery in a town of Doaksville, Indian Territory. This cemetery has approximately 2700 burials and is still active today. The land is flat, with just a few trees.
Surrounding the 11-acre cemetery, is a WPA-built rock wall which is three-quarters of a mile lone. Directly east of the entrance is this beautiful native sandstone chapel. It has a gabled roof with composition shingles. There is an entrance on the west and south, and a carport has been added on the south. The windows are singles with wood-framed six-over-six double hung windows. They have formed concrete sills and lintels. A small stone patio in front of the chapel has a war memorial and historical marker.
