Hans Gerd Ruwe was a german stone cutter and sculptor who was born in 1926 in Osnabrück. He learned to be a stone cutter from Emil Jung and after that studied in Hannover and Hamburg.
His art mostly is made from bronze and is known not only in Osnabrück. Ruwe has become known for his big works which often contain more than one figure.

The fountain is very liked by smaller children because the pump is functional and everybody can use it. So anyone can interact with the statue.
