The Coroner's Inquest into his death was reported in the Lithgow Mercury on 20 December 1909 as (in part):

INQUEST ON DEATH OF STEWARD YOUNG.

The Coroner Mr. E. P. Richards opened an inquest in the Inspector's Room at the Town Hall on Friday afternoon into the cause of the death of Steward Young, junior who's charred remains were found in the house in Tank Street, burnt down on Friday morning.
