In Pekin, along S Capitol Street, is the Pekin City Administration Office.
The building is located near the intersection of S. Capitol Street, and Sabella Street.
The building is a brick structure with a plaza area and stairs on the east side. It is three stories tall. There are several angular parts to the building. The sign on the S Capitol St. side lists the administrative offices as well as the police station as being in the building. The plaza has a monument for R. David Tebben, known as the "Whistling Mayor." The monument is made from granite from the previous city hall.
Pekin is the county seat for Tazewell County and is the site for both the courthouses and administration buildings. it is located along the Illinois River. It is run by a city council-manager system of government where the city council, which includes the mayor, oversee the city and the city manager runs the day-to-day operations.
The population is about 33,000.
