This three-arch brick-built bridge over the River Blackwater has two circular relief openings on the south side for flow relief when the Blackwater is in spate.
It is named for the old demolished mill which was some 100m upstream, but is not to be confused with the listed 'Mill Bridge' at the demolished mill's location. Just to the east of the bridge the mill race converges with the main River Blackwater, the mill race being controlled at a sluice some 750m in a NEly direction.
Now Grade II listed the listing text follows:-
Road bridge crossing the River Blackwater. C18th with later repairs and extension to the east. Red brick with some black brick dressings. The west face is of three main arches with two small overflow arches to the south. The main arches with keystones and three orders of red, black, red brickwork. Two central cutwaters of brick. Six circular tie plates, continuous brick band over. Stone coping. East face of later date, all arches of black brick, keystones to the 3 main arches, two brick cutwaters, band over, stone copings. An attractive bridge (and good group value with the mill bridge, and Wickham Place.)
