A golf course as a WPA project is quite rare. This is one of only two in the state of Oklahoma.

The City golf course is on the southeast edge of town, and is currently leased to the Idabel Country Club. This is a 160-acre area, with an 18-hole course, plus two impoundment ponds which have earthen dams. The land is rolling, with pines and oak trees.
The golf course was built in 1940, and is one of only two WPA-built golf courses in Oklahoma.
