Lithgow, Monday.
Barry Dean (22) was drowned in Lake Pillans yesterday morning. He was swimming some distance from the shore when he called out, "I've got the cramp." Several men went to his assistance. One of them grasped Dean but Dean dragged his rescuer down and the man had to fight to free himself. Dean's body was recovered some time later.
