SHOCKING MINING ACCIDENT.
THE ROOF FALLS IN.
LITHGOW, Sunday.
A shocking accident, resulting in the death of two miners employed at the Zig Zag Colliery, Lithgow, occurred on Saturday. Arthur Pearce and William Bannerman being killed. Pearce left a widow and seven children but Bannerman was a single man. The two men were drawing timbers. This is dangerous work, but both men were experienced at it. From what can be gathered, it appears that other employees noticed that portion of the roof had fallen, and Pearce and Bannerman were missed. Search was made and the body of Pearce recovered.
