In the small market square, the center of the city of Zell, the "Black Cat" stands on a black basalt well as a trademark of the Zeller wines. In 1936, the original well system was created in memory of the "Black Cat". The "black cat" has a great significance in Zell, but that black cat is responsible for the fact that Zell was world famous with its wine situation.

The history

In 1863, two vintners wanted to buy a wine. They tried one barrel after another and could not make up their minds. When, after the long tasting of the first - class wines, one was drunk already and the decision, which wine should be allowed to be postponed, a black cat crept into the wine cellar, jumped on one of the barrels and hissed at each one, the Barrel even wanted to approach.

Thus it was clear to the wine merchants that it could be only this wine. The wine was so good that they came back to Zell and bought the complete stock. In Zell, the name "Zeller Schwarze Katz" was taken from then on for the best wine - today.
