John Brady, the 'local' chainsaw artist has created another well presented sculpture as a Memorial, to the Medics of World War one, from a pine stump.

This may represent John Simpson (Fitzgerald), or could be of any of the ANZAC Medics, who after seeing the 'success' of John Simpson in retrieving the injured, also tried to obtain a donkey to make their job easier, and safer.

The stump is one of 26 pines planted in 1924 to commemorate x 26 local soldiers who died in 'the Great War'. When the Monterey Cypress pines became diseased in the 1990's and most were being removed, this one was used to depict a typical scene of World War One.

On the northern surface of the stump [and on a stand south of the sculpture] is a similar sign to the other carved memorials, on the Esplanade, that says: "These Sculptures Honour The memory of First World War Dead and Injured. Please Treat Them With Respect. Lakes Entrance RSL".

The only other inscription, chainsaw carved, is: "Carved by John Brady xxx 1998". But you will have to personally check that out, as it is a piece of information required for a local Multi-Geocache.

The website included in the link is for the 'Avenue' of x 6 sculptures.
