There's an access point to a hiking and walking trail through the so-called 'Böfinger Halde' - located in the northeast of Ulm, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

Wandern im Böfinger Wald
The mixed forest covers an area of ??approximately 65 hectares from the north-east of the city of Ulm through the Bavarian border up to Thalfingen. The walking and hiking trail was opened in 1974 and has a total length of more than 6km, but also offers the possibility to run a smaller round
In 2016, an additional forest educational trail was installed, using geological tables to explain for example the nature of the forest floor. The original path is now divided into two sections:

  • The front part at the height of the hiking parking lot at the 'Böfinger Eiche' explains about tree and shrub species.
  • The rear area at the hiking parking lot 'Böfinger Weg' explains the life community in the forest. There the function of the forest for the environment, for the drinking water and the wood industry is discussed. But also there can be found explanations about hunting and the rules of conduct on a total of 45 information boards.

The trailhead was placed at 'Böfinger Weg' where you will find a small overview map on the chalkboard, which informs about the different trail possibilities and their length.
