Situated on a large sloping site, Lithgow General Cemetery is a significant regional cemetery that has served the Lithgow area since about 1870. Graves near the highway have suffered from vandalism & inscriptions on marble tablets were often difficult to decipher due to staining & poor lettering.
The cemetery grounds are in excellent condition. It has the older monumental section, a lawn section, a columbarium & an area for infants.
