Her death & the circumstances surrounding it were the were subject of a Coroner's Inquest which was reported by The Sydney Morning Herald on 15 March 1928 as (in part):

CHARGE AGAINST DOCTOR.
GOULBURN, Wednesday.

The City Coroner (Mr. G. A. Stevens) returned a verdict of accidental death at the conclusion of an inquest into the death of Miss Vera Beatrice Wray, who was killed in a motor accident recently on the Yass road about three miles from Goulburn. The car was driven by Dr. Thomas Spiers Kirkland, of Macquarie Street, Sydney. Under cross examination Dr. Kirkland admitted that he had no license. He had had a permit to drive, but this had expired a few days earlier.
