The Australian War Memorial records, website below, that he was a Sergeant with the 1 L.H. (Light Horse) Unit. His full name was Frederick Richard Young, Richard being the name of his father. He enlisted on 19 August 1914 & met his fate on 7 August 1915.

His headstone is worded:

In loving memory of Frederick
Son of R. & E. Young
Sergeant Trumpeter 1st Imperial A.L.H.
Killed at Lone Pine, Gallipoli
7th August 1915
Aged 28 years.
