This carriage block is stop No. 25 on the Oakland Cemetery tour. It is located in the Original Six Acres of Oakland Cemetery, established in 1850.
From the Tour booklet:
"25. GRANITE CARRIAGE STEP
Is one of the last Oakland. Until 1882, Oakland was the only public park in Atlanta, so visiting the cemetery was a popular weekend activity. Ladies used the step to get out of the carriages that brought them here."
