Between the two towns of Alf and Bullay, Germany's first double-deck bridge was built between 1875 and 1878.
On top the trains, underneath the cars.
Only after financial participation from the surrounding municipalities - the originally planned as a pure railway bridge - was still conceived for the combined rail and road traffic.
In 1928, the bridge was reconstructed and had to be completely rebuilt after the destruction by the Allies in the Second World War in 1947.
