On the 10th of June 1990 the unveiling of the bronze memorial "The market banger Gerda and Heinz" by János Enyedi took place on the edge of the Lohbrügger market square. Many citizens had donated funds for the bronze casting of the two typical and well-known market figures, as the Hamburg cultural authorities did not want to promote the work (first). Enyedi had already created the couple in 1979.
János Ermesz is a retired headmaster, former art educator at the Gymnasium Hamburg Billstedt, currently a freelance artist with a focus on ceramics, painting and portrait drawings, lives and works in his gallery for free art in 21436 Marschacht.
