Her marble headstone insert has broken free from its sandstone backing & now sits on her grave.

Her death was reported in the Cootamundra Herald on Friday 2 September 1932 as:

Fell From Cot

Betty Valma Rankin, the 19 months old daughter of Mr and Mrs N. C. Rankin, of Bradley Street, Goulburn, was killed instantly through fracturing her neck.

Both parents were absent from the house at the time, but the baby was in the charge of a girl help, who stated that she placed the little one in her cot and had left her only a few minutes when she heard a fall.

Running into the room, she found the baby on the floor unconscious. A doctor was called, and on examination, he found the child had died from a broken neck. He was there when the parents arrived, and had the painful task of informing them of the accident.

She is buried in Goulburn Cemetery.
