A carved wooden soldier is standing 'at ease', emanating from a Monterey Cypress pine stump, right on the Esplanade, at Lakes Entrance, Victoria.

This is carved from one of the pines planted as a memorial to the fallen soldiers of World War One, and were planted in 1924.

The soldier is depicted holding his upright rifle in his right hand (with a slouch hat on his head.

A plaque right beside the sculpture reads:
These Sculptures Honour the Memory of First World War Dead and Injured
Please treat them with respect
Lakes Entrance RSL
