Meijer was directly involved in hiding his cousin and was arrested by the Leiden police on 17 August. Two days later, Meijer, Nathan and the resident of number 1, Witte, were transferred to Rotterdam and from there to Kamp Vught. On November 15, Meijer and Nathan went on transport to Auschwitz. Meijer and Nathan died there on January 31, 1944
