Freedom Falls is home to one of the best-preserved iron furnaces in the region. The falls are spectacular; quite large for this area. The pool at the bottom of the falls is a popular swimming hole. The falls are created by Shull Run as it plunges down from a hilly region to its confluence with the Allegheny River about a half mile to the south. The nearby Freedom Falls Geocache is a worthy entry on the Pennsylvania's Favorite Caches bookmark list.
