A wall mounted brass memorial plaque dedicated to 2nd Lt Humphrey Osborn Springfield. Incised black lettering, mounted on a wooden backboard.
Inscription -
IN MEMORY OF/ HUMPHREY OSBORN SPRINGFIELD/ 2ND LIEUT. WARWICKSHIRE YEOMANRY/ KILLED AT QUATIA EGYPT, WHILE SAVING WOUNDED MEN/ AUGUST 5TH 1916 AGED 29/ "HE ASKED LIFE OF THEE, AND THOU GAVEST IT HIM, EVEN LENGTH OF DAYS FOR EVER AND EVER"/ PSALM 21.4
"Humphrey Osborn Springfield was born in 1887 in Clonmel, Ireland. He was the son of Thomas O. and Maud B. Springfield. At the time of the 1911 Census he was single, working as a Dairyman Manager and living in Norfolk. He enlisted in the Warwickshire Yeomanry and at the time of his death held the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He served at Gallipoli and was Mentioned in Despatches. He died on 5th August 1916 and was buried at Kantara War Memorial Cemetery in Egypt (grave id. A.30)."

2nd Lt Springfield was a bellringer at Fontmell Magna and a member of the Salisbury Diocesan Guild of Ringers (SDGR).
As well as appearing on the Fontmell Magna War Memorial, his name is also on the Alburgh War Memorial in Norfolk.
