The prefabricated iron house, Corio Villa, was erected in 1856, after being manufactured in Edinburgh in 1855 by iron founder, Charles D Young and Co for William Nairn Gray, colonial land commissioner, who died before it could be shipped.Alfred Douglass, merchant, acquired and erected the villa in 1856.
