In Grafton, along Illinois Route 100, is the Pere Marquette State Park, which has a visitor center with displays about the geological and natural features of the park vicinity.
The park is a few miles north of the center of Grafton. The visitor center is on the east (right) side when driving north. There is a sign at the road for the park.
The visitor center is located in the southwest part of the park, which has over 8,000 acres and has many facilities including hiking trails and camping spots. Inside the building there is a 3-D map ahead and displays to the right. The map shows the park area in great detail, marking features. The displays cover several subjects of geology, biology and history. A prominent feature is something that looks like an eagle nest that you can sit in.
