The Egerton Arms is a country pub situated adjacent to St Marys Church on Peel Lane in the village of Astbury.
The arms of the Egerton family are depicted on the hanging pub sign and on a freestanding Pillory sign situated away from the pub on the A43 entrance to the car park.
The motto Sic Donec (Thus until) can be seen on the Coat of Arms displayed on the free standing sign.
The name “Egerton” was taken from a famous family who once resided in the village, they were the owners of the manors of Newbold and Astbury.
The Egertons are an ancient Cheshire family, seated at Oulton Park near Tarporley since the Middle Ages. (

The village of Astbury lies just South of Congleton, on the eastern edge of the Cheshire Plain. The most dominating feature of this small village is St Marys Church. It stands proud overlooking the Egerton Arms and the village cottages and houses.
The Egerton Arms is family run and the building dates from 1560 and was originally a farm serving the monastery next to St Mary's Church. It began brewing on site and had one of the first licences in the area. The restaurant is the former barn.
Freshly prepared meals are served everyday. They offer everything from a light snack, a vegetarian meal, a salad or a homemade sandwich. Lunch and Dinner is also served daily in the Restuarant Area. (
