The Signature Centre shopping area was created on farm land belonging to the Fentiman family. Fentiman Park in the Kanata Lakes community is a linear park stretching three kilometres, north-south. For the most part, the park is a paved path which is itself a remnant of the Goulbourn Forced Road, a township road dating back to the 1820s.

The 2.44 hectares (6.03 acres) park has only one piece of recreational infrastructure, a young children's playground and sand box between Highmont Court and Macassa Circle.
