St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church was built in 1864, to serve the parishioners of the surround agricultural areas. Most were of Irish catholic descent, as evidenced by the myriad markers in the surrounding cemetery.

Declining congregation numbers and a need for expensive repair and upgrading combined to spell the end of St. Anne's. The church was closed, with demolition completed in 1986.

The commemorative cairn is built of brick from the church. The cornerstone and a commemorative marker are located on both faces.
Year of construction: 1864
