Carved by John Brady in 1999. As mentioned in other entries, this pine stump is the remains of one of 26 Monterey Cypress pines planted in 1924 to honour the local soldiers that died in World War One. When some had to be removed due to disease and damage, a plan was made in conjunction with the local chainsaw artist (John Brady), to create an Avenue of Honour Memorial Statues, with each depicting a different setting. The detail is superb in the mother, and the son and daughter. With a loyal Kelpie they are seen as waiting for Dad's safe return from The Great War.
There is a sign embedded in the stump, which reads:
"This sculpture honours the Families of those that fought and died in WW1.
Please treat it with RESPECT.
Lakes Entrance RSL."
