In 1895, a large fire destroyed much of downtown Ardmore. This building was constructed after the fire, as the Masonic Lodge. The First National Bank, whose building nearby was destroyed in the fire, moved into the first two stories of this building, with the Masons occupying the top floor.
In 1902, the bank purchased the land, with the Masons owning the building. The bank operated from this located from 1896 to 1918 when they moved to a new building at Main and “A” Street NW.
This building was sold to a private individual in 1930 who leased the property to Steele Drug which moved into the ground floor and was a landmark for many years. The building was purchased in 2001 by the American Law Firm, which occupies it today.
