The Old Sugarlands Trail is described as a moderate 6.8 mile, out and back, round trip hike. Using a vehicle at each end it becomes an easy 3.9 mile hike, according to the trail sign. Begin at this end of the trail and it is basically all down hill. Sugarlands was a community from the early 1800s until the formation of the national park. The trail is mostly an old road so it is nice and wide. The hiker will see the remains of rock walls denoting old home sites and the remains of a clocktower which stood at the entrance to CCC Camp NP-2 (WMWJMT). A 1.5 mile side trip will take the hiker to the Sugarlands cemetery (WMWJ98).
