A four part monument is dedicated to the men and women of Berkshire County who served during the Vietnam War and in memory of those who died. The three sided, polished, black, granite monument is shaped like the Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC.
The left side slopes upward and back and is inscribed on the top 1961 * 1975 and contains a bronze plaque which is inscribed:
DEDICATED TO THE MEN AND
WOMEN FROM BERKSHIRE
COUNTY WHO SERVED THEIR
COUNTRY DURING THE VIETNAM
WAR AND IN MEMORY OF
THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR
LIVES.
The rectangular center panel contains a bronze plaque with a map of southeast Asia identifying: NORTH VIET NAM, SOUTH VIET NAM, LAOS and CAMBODIA.
The right side slopes forward and down and is inscribed on the top *VIETNAM* and contains a bronze plaque which is inscribed:
“TO THOSE WHO DIED
HONOR AND ETERNAL REST,
TO THOSE STILL IN BONDAGE
REMEMBRANCE AND HOPE,
TO THOSE WHO RETURNED,
GRATITUDE AND PEACE.”
A ground level bronze plaque in front of the monument is has a three column list of names. It is inscribed:
