The memorial sits in the middle of Veterans park, between the city hall and the library. The plaque on the stone reads: "In memory of the glider pilots who trained at Condor Field, Twentynine Palms Air Academy during World War II. The Twentynine Palms Air Academy was the first major glider training base in the United States. Here 1654 students received basic glider training from January 1942 to March 1943. Later they would risk their lives flying highly vulnerable aircraft into combat, during the airborne operation of World War II. Dedicated 28 March 1992 by the National World War II glider pilots association."
