The time capsule is by the entrance to the exhibit area by the gift shop. The plaque reads: "Tomorrow's Past. Tricentennial Time Capsule. A sampling of Los Angeles lifestyle 1976 for the citizens of 2076. from the Los Angeles city bicentennial committee September 8, 1976. This capsule was a propellant used in the Mariner '71 Earth to Mars Program."
