The R.S.& S (Returned Soldiers and Sailors) Woollen Mills were established in 1922 in order to provide employment to returned servicemen from World War 1, by returned servicemen and helped by government bonds.
The mill specialized in woollen tweed and worsted cloth and made use of a wide range of natural and artificial fibers.
