The Boorabool sandstone, Georgian style St John's Lutheran Church was erected in 1841-2 as St Andrews Presbyterian Church and was designed by architect and surveyor Alexander Skene. In 1912/13 the present two storey, rendered, classical style front was added.
St Andrews Presbyterian Church was the first Presbyterian Church in Geelong, the oldest surviving Presbyterian Church in the state, and the oldest surviving masonry structure in the Geelong region.
St John's Lutheran Church purchased the property in 1946.
