The Queen Wilhelmina Hamfest is held in the Queen Wilhelmina State Park, 13 miles west of the town of Mena, on Highway 88 (also known as the Talimena Trail or Skyline Drive). The hamfest began in 1969 and continues to be what they call "The best little hamfest west of the Mississippi."

It is held at the lodge, in an outdoor venue, under two large tents, plus dozens of tables out in the open. There will be several new merchandise vendors there, with the remaining items for sale by "hams". This is the place to buy radios, antennas and all the other assorted "stuff" needed to enjoy the hobby.

V.E. testing for licensing is held on Saturday morning, and tickets can be purchased for the hourly door prizes, as well as the Grand Prize at the end.

This is a two-day hamfest open on Friday from 8am - 5pm with a cookout following, and on Saturday, from 8am to 3pm, with a banquet following. This locale is beautiful, held in the Ouachita Mountains, on Rich Mountain, at an elevation of 2520 feet. 2017 provided gorgeous sunshine and comfortable temperatures, although we have been in the past when it was raining and overcast.
