The spelling on the gravestone is Abby but the family name was Abbe. His mother Roxcey Abbe is buried next to him. The grave also has a Civil War flag marker so George undoubtedly died while in the service of the Union. His grave marker is inscribed:

GEORGE
SON OF
COLEMAN & ROXCY ABBY
drowned at Beaufort, North Carolina
Oct. 19, 1864,
AGED 23.
Buried here April 16, 1865.

Good GEORGE is being remembered again.
