The date of the original church on this site is unknown what is however recorded is that Bishop Wilson added the porch and the bell-gable in 1771.
The porch and the bell-gable have a simple Baroque style’ in the words of Sir John Betjeman.
The single bell is tolled by a bell-rope that drops down the west front of the Church.
Another interesting architectural feature of the Church is the Baptismal Font which is made of red sandstone and is set into the rear most of the windows on the south-side of the Church.
The inscription on the Font is in Manx Gaelic and reads:
'Ta un Chiarn, un Credjue, un Vashey, Un Jee as Ayr jeh ooilley'
This has been translated as:
'There is one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism, One God and Father of all.'
The Font is decorated with a cross and was formerly painted blue and read.
The Font is of unknown antiquity as the origin of the Church itself.
The wooden lid is of much more modern origin.
