This Sundial is located to the right of the west front of the Church in the churchyard at the top of a short flight of steps and a stone stile.
The Sundial is etched on to a slate atop a short stone pillar. The dial has vertical crack whish divided the dial into two almost identical halves.
There is an inscription on the dial which is unclear: 'the Gift of...1813'.
The present sorry state of the Sundial contrasts markedly with that given by Miss A. M. Crellin in a paper read on 9th May 1899 entitled 'Sun Dials of the Isle of Man' where Miss Crellin described the Sundial as follows:
"The dial by the Stile at Ballaugh Old Church is in pretty good condition, thanks to the care of the present rector, the Rev W. Kermode, who on coming to the parish discovered it lying on the ground, and had it restored to its original position. It is made of very thin slate, prettily ornamented in a manner similar to some of the stones in the Churchyard; and has the inscription— 'The gift of Thos. Moughton, 1813'."
