The 3' high 18th century brownstone grave marker of Chester Cleveland has the image of a grieving face in the lunette and the following inscription:

In Memory of
Chester Cleveland
Son to Rufus &
Polley Cleveland
Who was Drowned
August 26th 1795
Aged 15 Years.

The ground around the marker now covers the verse. The Find A Grave website reports the verse as being:

Behold & see as you pass by
as you are now so once was I
As I am now so you must be
Prepare for death and follow me.
