The family name, "DeBow", is on the plinth, with floral detail on each side and throughout. The inscription is:

In Memory of
Alva C. DeBow M.D.
Died May 4, 1898, Aged 48 Years.

Great while he lived, he lived for all
whose faith and trust he loved the best;
he gave his life to duty's call
and God has called him to his rest.

On the south side of the monument is the Woodmen emblem, while on the north side, Mrs. DeBow is listed:

Mother
Annie Debow
Died
Nov. 28, 1905
Aged 54
Years

On the reverse, an Old English "D" is on the cap, with only "The Babies" listed below. Findagrave has no information as to how many children are buried here, or under what circumstances they died. The two adults have headstones with their initials, "A.A. DeB." and "A.C.DeB." but there is nothing for the children.
Was the inscription legible?: Yes
