On the left is a man, draped across his lap on to the right is a woman. They are holding between them a child (with a very mature face) whose hands are held up and he is looking up as toward heaven.

Umlauf was commissioned to make a major sculpture in bronze for the entrance of the Houston Museum of Natural Science in 1970. He worked for two years, creating sketches on paper, than a clay and plaster. In Italy he cast this scale model and finally, the monumental figural group.

Umlauf gifted this 1/3 size scale model to the Umlauf's permanent collection.
