A giant 1965 Churchill Crown coin replica, sign for the Crown Hotel in Blandford Forum.

"The Churchill Crown was issued by the Royal Mint in 1965 to commemorate the life of Sir Winston Churchill who died in January of that year.

Britain's greatest Prime Minister is best known for steering his country to victory in World War Two, and this crown is famous for being the first British coin to feature anyone outside of the Royal family.

The first crown since 1902 which did not bear a denomination. The reverse features a portrait of Churchill which was taken from the bronze statue by his favourite sculptor, Oscar Nemon.

The Churchill crown has gone on to become one of the most famous British coins of the last century.
