Ardmore City Hall is located in the three-story municipal building constructed in 1937 by the WPA. This is a blonde brick building which faces East and covers a full city block. A Fire Department addition has been added to the west side (rear) in later years.

Ardmore is a city of approximately 25,250 residents. It is the County Seat for Carter County and is considered the economic center of a ten-county section of Oklahoma. It is located mid-way between Oklahoma City and Dallas, TX along Interstate 35. The City was first settled in 1887 and was part of the Chickasaw Nation. After a fire almost completely destroyed the town in 1895, it was rebuilt with cotton farming its main resource.

When oil was discovered in the nearby Healdton Oil Field in 1913, Ardmore took off and became the center of the largest oil producing county in Oklahoma, then and now. Today it is a thriving city with its largest employer being Michelin North America (tire mfr). and is a regional distribution center for several large national firms.

The building houses all of the City of Ardmore's administrative offices and services, as well as the Municipal court.

The City government is run by 5 Commissioners (one at-large and four from the City wards). They serve on a rotating three-year term and are elected by a City-wide vote. Each year, the Commissioners elect from their membership a Mayor and Vice-Mayor who serve for one year. Day-to-day operations are run by a City Manager.

The Commission meets on the First and Third Mondays of each month at 7:00 on the third floor. The meetings are open to all and are locally televised.

The City has a fully interactive website, including on-line payment.
