This bridge carries a minor road over the line of the former railway to the Old Vicarage in Kirk Michael.
The line has been lifted but the route now serves as a footpath and cycleway that following the line of the MNR to Ballaugh and beyond, although the path does not reach Ramsey the original northern terminus of the MNR.
The MNR line ran from St. John's to Ramsey opened on 23 September 1879. The MNR was only taken over by the Isle of Man Railway following the passing of the Isle of Man Railway Act on 24 May 1905. The line final closed in October 1969 and the line was lifted in 1974.
The stone bridge is surmounted by a brick-built parapet.
