This is a bust of König Ludwig II (Ludwig II, King of Bavaria) which is located in front of the town hall and tourist information center in Schwangau, Germany, Bayern.
This life-sized bust shows Ludwig II without a crown but in royal cloths.
The statue's year of creation is not sure. The year 1864 is engraved at the reverse side. Maybe the year is correct. Also the name 'J. Hautmann' is engraved there.
It is made of bronze.
An inscription at the monuments says:
'König Ludwig II von Bayern
1865-1886
in Dankbarkeit Gemeinde Schwangau 1986'
So it seems this memorial was created in 1986 for his 100th anniversary of death.
Ludwig II was King of Bavaria from 1864 until his death in 1886.
He was born 25 August 1845. He's also known as Swan King, Mad King Ludwig or der Märchenkönig (the 'Fairy Tale King'). He was the builder of the world's most famous castle: Schloss Neuschwanstein.
