Seit 1769 war der spätere Sobieskiplatz nach dem hl. Johannes Nepomuk benannt. Seine Figur von 1824 (nach der Angabe auf dem Sockel) unter einem Baldachin aus Metall, "Johannes mit dem Regenschirm" genannt, wurde mehrfach versetzt. Seit 1964 steht sie vor dem Haus Sobieskiplatz 5.
